Do Heated Gloves Work?

It is possible that you may live in a state where you do not have to put on gloves anytime during any season. Even so, buying you a good pair of heated gloves for an unexpected ski trip or a motorcycle ride on a chilly day, might not be such a bad idea. However, do heated gloves work?

The answer to that question has had mixed reviews by consumers who have purchased a pair of these battery-operated wonder gloves. Some glove wearers have had problems with battery life, and some have noted that the pair they bought seemed to only heat the tops of the hands.

Although these may be two reasons not to like heated gloves, they are not reasons that they don't work.

The Benefits of Heated Gloves

Obviously, there are many brands of these gloves out on the market and some will be made better than others. It all depends on what you want to use your heated gloves for. It is best to research and find a review page for several brands of heated gloves, weigh the pros and cons, and then make the decision that will be best for you and the activities you plan to use them for.

For example, if you are into extreme winter sports such as:
  • Snow Skiing
  • Snowboarding
  • Ice Climbing
  • Snow Kiting
  • Shovel Racing
All the above sports will benefit from heavy duty heated gloves that have plenty of battery life, enough circulating heat for tops and bottoms of hands, and are made with durable material like soft shell leather for mobility.

You will also need to make sure that they are either made waterproof or have a waterproof insert. As we all know, snow is made of water vapor turned into ice crystals and when heated or slushed around, will be wet.

How To Pick the right heated gloves

In addition to extreme winter sports, you may just want some heated gloves for a mild chilly day while walking through a nature trail, or Sunday motorcycle drives through the mountains. Activities such as these may not require such a heavy-duty pair of gloves.

For heated gloves during casual but chilly events, a nice soft pair that doesn't have to warm the entire hand would suffice in these conditions. However, it would be a good idea to know how long you will be wearing the gloves, because a cheaper pair of heated gloves may not hold battery life as well as the gloves made for the extreme sport wearer.

Also, it depends on what type and brand of gloves you purchase when it comes to battery life and other features. Again, it is always a good idea to read all instructions and the conditions a brand of gloves is best in and weigh that against what you will need them for.

Heated Work gloves?

Now that we have talked about heated gloves for extreme sports and casual outdoor activities, let's talk about what type of job someone may have that will benefit from a pair of heated gloves.

A list of jobs that may require your hands to stay warm are:
  • Park/Forest Ranger
  • Marine Biologist
  • Landscape Architect
  • Geologist
  • Farmer
With the jobs listed above, it would be a good idea to invest in some heated gloves. And again, it really depends on the type of work and conditions that someone will be in whether you buy heavy duty heated gloves or basic heated gloves.

For instance, a Park Ranger will have to go out and in all day for his job, but he may not need a thick heated glove. However, a Farmer or a Landscape Architect may need a durable glove that is not too thick but has a good battery life, as they will be working with their hands outside most of their day.

Heated Gloves Can work For you!

At this point, I think we have established that heated gloves work. Nevertheless, some do work better than others. Some heated gloves are made with extra features that cater to the extremist, while other brands of heated gloves are made to basically warm hands on a casual-cool day.

However, if careful when picking out the right gloves, you will certainly pick out the ones that will suit your desired purpose.

In covering the different activities and lifestyles that heated gloves could be used for, I believe we have mentioned many different things in this article. However, always take the time to research yourself.

As a smart consumer, make sure you put in the extra time to thoroughly read the packaging when you are purchasing something for a specific reason. This way, you will not get home with your product and realize just picking a pair off the rack was a mistake.
